Well, I took a new laptop at work and downloaded Windows 11, so here we go. Since it became available over two weeks ago, I’m sure I’m not the first one here to do it. So, any comments on the new the Windows OS? Similarities, differences, pluses or minuses as opposed to Windows 10?
What I have learned. It is almost impossible to find “This PC”. Also, there is no “Administrative Tools” directly in the control panel. You have to go to “Control Panel”, and then “Windows Tools”. You can find “This PC” and “Computer Management” in there. I just dragged the shortcuts out onto the desktop because I use them a lot.
Every edition of Windows seems to make things more convoluted and more difficult to find. This one is no different.
I ran the beta for a few weeks in July before I got a new computer and then installed 11 on release date. For 95% of what I do, other than the task bar being centred instead of left justified, there is not much change.
I wonder how a centered task bar works on a dual monitor setup. Is it centered on only one screen? Split down the middle?
I’m not sure, as part of my upgrade I switched from a dual monitor setup to a single 42” 8K monitor.
