Windows 2000 question

Hi all,

I am having trouble booting up my laptop. I’m running Windows 2000. Here’s what happens.

  1. When I power up the computer, everything appears normal. I get the black screen with white words, with the status bar on the bottom of the screen.
  2. When the status bar indicates that it is finished, instead of getting the login screen, the computer screen goes black.

I’ve tried everything I could think of, including starting the computer in “safe” mode. However, when I choose “safe mode”, I get the login screen but cannot log in.

Is there anything I’m missing that I could try? I used this computer at work a few hours ago.

Thanks!
Max

OK. I figured it out. It was the toggle between the LCD and the CRT. (I thought I tried that twice before posting the question.)

Thanks for looking.
