How do I get Windows 7 games on my brand new Windows 8 computer? Everything I’ve tried returns a ‘No Xbox/You are not signed in to Xbox’ error message. (Probably because I don’t have either one.) I just wanna play Hearts and Spades and Solitaire and Mahjong.
Can any of you gurus point me in the right direction?
Microsoft got rid of the pre-installed games in Windows 8.
In order to play Majong and Solitare you need to create a Microsoft account (you probably created one when you activated your license/upgraded) and log into the Windows Store by clicking the Store tile from the start screen. Search for the games you want and download and install the apps (each game is it’s own app now). When you start the game you should be signed into your Xbox Live account automatically (its the same as your Microsoft account), if you’re not you’ll probably need to click on the Games app and create a account/log in.
All Microsoft games and media are now branded as “Xbox”. Doesn’t matter if you have a Xbox console game, in order to make the most of your Windows 8 PC you need a Microsoft and Xbox Live account (both are usually one in the same). It’s basically the same as an Apple account or a Google account, you need to log in with them to play games, use Docs or any services.
