My buddy has Windows 95 and it’s been screwed up a bit.
Specifically, it will not load into windows on its own anymore. Instead, it goes to a DOS prompt, and he must type “win” to load windows from there.
I cannot remember what file tells the system to load windows when you first start up.
Does anyone out there know how to make it load again?
Add a line at the bottom of the AUTOEXEC.BAT file that read simply: win
The AUTOEXEC.BAT file can be found in the root directory of the harddrive: C:\
If that doesn’t work, I’m not sure what will.
Make the last line of the Autoexec.bat file read
WIN
Or, open the c:\msdos.sys file in a text editor like notepad.
there is a line that currently reads
BOOTGUI=0
Change the 0 to a 1 and save the file. Reboot and you are in business.
Actually, I hate Macs. I just couldn’t let a Windows question go by without at least one pro-Apple jibe.
