Ok, so I broke down and bought a DVD burner. A sony, it came with a software package all on one cd with about 4 different programs. The one I’m having trouble with is “MY DVD.” “Sonic” appears to be the software manufacturer, possibly a Sony affiliate. The problem after installing and re-installing is that when I try to open MY DVD, I get the error message to the effect that I am missing WMVCORE.DLL.
Continued: Sorry, i hit the wrong key— So I downloaded, unzipped and put the wmvcore file into windows\system. Then with the same type of errors, I learned that this file has to be loaded into the system registry.
After many unsuccessful attempts to get the command line correct, I finally learn that the command “regsvr32” is in the system directory, at the dos prompt, I go to windows\system and type the following “regsvr32 wmvcore.dll” then I get an error message “LoadLibrary(wmvcore.dll)failed 0x00000485”. After several different tries from different directories, I still get the same basic message that the load failed. What can I possibly be doing wrong. I used to be fairly competent with dos commands and could move around with commands from other directories etc. but get away from it for awhile and things don’t seem the same. I’ve googled a bit for help, but can’t seem to come up with my exact problem. Sorry about the vagueness in the error message quotes, but close enough should work in this case. Any help would be appreciated.
