Okay, so I turn on my computer today, and everything is HUGE. Text, icons, etc. I play around a little to try and shrink it back to regular size, but nothing is working. I moved the resolution size one bit smaller, but then everything was TINY. So that’s not what’s making everything gigantic, but I can’t figure out what it is. This is driving me crazy, anyone have an idea of how to fix this?
Oh my lord, I cannot believe I put this in the wrong forum. How embarrassing. Mods?
Kyla, please, under no circumstances should you give any details about your system. Just look what happened to Wen Holee
You just have “Large Iconitis”. It should be easily cured by changing your control panel default settings. You may want to check for any sort of viruses, however. If I was a system administrator, I’d tell you just what to do, but, I’m not.
BTW, Mod, good advice on never giving out your sys config (i.e., system configuration).
Yeah, except the most incriminating thing on my computer is… actually, I can’t think of anything incriminating on my computer.
I am so boring.
Anyway, my system is even more screwed up (if that’s possible) than it was before. Grrr… The frame colors are weird now.
Go to Settings-Control panel-display-settings-advanced-general. check the display font size, and adjust to your liking.

As Kyla noted, this is the incorrect forum for this. Frankly, though, I’m not sure what the correct forum would be. It’s not really a General Question of the Cecil variety, so I won’t move it there. The best I can think of is MPSIMS, so that’s where I’ll toss it.
Hope you find your answer.

I connect a monitor to my laptop, and sometimes if the monitor’s cable gets loosened a little bit, the resolution gets changed by Windows and I get bigger icons. Try making sure the monitor cable is connected tightly, and reboot.
right click your wallpaper and select properties. Under the tab settings, you should find what is wrong (large icons) or under appearance (frame colors) for things that just don’t look right. E-mail me if you want more specific help.
Right click on the desktop.
go to properties. go to the settings tab. There is 1 thing to check here.
- The Screen size. Its probably at 800x600 at the moment.
Put it to 1024x768. that should solve the problem
The question of course, is WHY did it change? Virus? Voltage surge?
OK… as a former PC tech… this is what i would do. right click the desktop, select properties. Under the Plus! tab (if you have it) there is an option that says “use large icons”. If that is checked, uncheck it… that should solve the big icon problem. As for the colors, you can change that under the appearance tab. Handy brings up a good point… WHY did this happen? I would do a virus scan or check with the admin to see if anything is up around the office.
