The other day I installed a program that should have added audio to a slide show, I didnt like it so I uninstalled it and returned the file associations to my original picture viewer (irfanviewer) but now when I click on a pic in explorer it will only preview BMP files not jpegs,
Anyone have a suggestion on how I can make this work again. I am going to try and reinstall the irfanviewer tonight but is there an option in explorer that may have been tripped by the other program? Without the preview catalogging my pix is a total pain in the butt.
Open Windows Explorer.
Double-click the folder that contains your pictures.
If your pictures are stored in the My Pictures folder, click the name of the the picture you want to preview. The picture appears in the Image Preview window to the left of your file list.
If your pictures are not stored in the My Pictures folder, click the View menu, click Customize This Folder, and then follow the rest of this procedure.
In the Customize This Folder wizard, click Next, select Choose or edit an HTML template, and then click Next again.
In Choose a template, click Image Preview, and then follow the instructions on your screen to complete the wizard and turn on Image Preview.
Click the name of the image you want to preview.
Notes
To open Windows Explorer, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Windows Explorer.
Web content must be enabled for the Image Preview window to appear. For more information about enabling Web content, see Related Topics.
To see picture details up close, click the name of the picture you want to see, click Zoom In , and then click the area of the picture where you want to see details.
To see a full-screen preview of an image or picture, click the name of the image or picture you want to see, and then click Full Screen Preview.
horseflesh fixed this problem for me a while back (like maybe 4 months?). Server’s running slow now or I’d look, but if you search GQ for a thread intiated by me with “thumbnail” or “thumbnails” in the title, you should find it, and his fix.
Duckster - I tried your tip, I am running win98 and what customization options I was given didnt seem to jive with what you posted
QtM - I browsed your older post and tried a few things but it still doesnt work, It worked earlier this week, I am going to reread the post and see if anything else might work
