Windows Live Messenger

I have Windows Live Messenger 2009 (Build 14.0.8064.206). It is always showing 5 new messages in the Email Inbox. Even when there are none. How can I renew this to 0 messages when there are none?

Sometimes this happens to me with Yahoo Messenger. It will happen to me if I check my e-mails without having signed into YM first. I’ll check my e-mails, read the new ones then sign out. Sign in to YM later on in the day and it’ll say I have some new ones, when I actually don’t.

Try signing into WLM and clicking on the button that will take you to your inbox to check these supposedly new e-mails. Acknowledging you have new e-mails through the IM program itself is how I would get YM to actually stop telling me I have new e-mails.

I don’t know why it can’t just detect I don’t have any new e-mails, but most IM clients suck really badly in some form or another.

Except Google Talk of course.

So far, I have tried everything, but nothing has worked for me. This morning it said that I had 6 mails, but when I went there, I had about 12 mails. After finishing with them and deleting all of them, I got out and still had 5 mails showing. To me, 5 = 0.

I just reinstalled Windows Live Messenger and now I have 6 ghost messages showing. Ughhhh!
