Where does Windows Media Player store its codecs? The deal is, I have WMP 7.01 on my old computer and it can play this one AVI I have with no problem. I have the same thing on my new computer and it can’t find a decompressor for the video stream. If I could just copy some files from old computer to new to fix the problem, that would be great. Thanks!
I do not think any program stores “its” codecs anywhere as the codecs belong to Windows who makes them available to other programs. The codecs need to be “installed” in the sense that Windows needs to know they exist. You can’t just “put” them somewhere and expect programs to find them.
