Windows Vista Problem

I just did an update for Vista and after it rebooted, Windows Update in Control Panel won’t activate. Only pops up and then disappears. Cannot get it to function correctly. Any ideas?

Can you get to the event viewer in administrative tools? If so, are there any relevant error messages?

Actually, first, have you simply rebooted?

Yes, I have rebooted without success. I can get to event viewer, but there are a lot of errors for Windows Update that I don’t understand. I think I need to do a system restore back to last good working system.

This is what I find for what it’s worth:

This is the update that causes the problem in my computer. Windows Search 4.0 for Windows Vista (KB940157). I have eliminated it.
