Windows XP Pro. Help!

Whilst installing Windows Xp Pro I am prompted with it saying “Windows
could not load the installer for Net. Contact your hardware vendor for
assistance”
and continually restarts the Windows XP Pro setup.
What should i do???

Some questions need clearing up. is this a full install version, or an upgrade version? Was the CD part of an OEM bundle with a new PC or did you purchase it from Microsoft or a software vendor? Are you installing in on a new harddrive or are you trying to install it over an existing OS?

Also, check the disk surface for fingerprints, scratches or abrasions. You may also wish to run a CD-ROM drive cleaner through your drive, in case dust on the lens is causing invalid data reads, although if the error you are getting occurs at the same point each time, this is unlikely.

There’s nothing in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, and google only turns up two hits for that message. Neither one is particularly helpful. The only suggestion is to reformat and do a clean install.

If it keeps restarting you may have to blow away the partition and run FDISK /MBR. Setup puts something in the boot record which can get it stuck in a perpetual loop.

Of course don’t do this unless all your important data is backed up.
