Uh oh! Somehow I’ve been co-opted into arranging the nibbles for an event tonight. How much wine and cheese do I need to feed thirty adults? It’s an afternoon event, from 4:30 to about 6.
I might get some hummus and crackers, some brie/camembert, and a hard cheese. Do I chop the cheese, or leave it on the platters (do I HAVE platters?) with a knife? (do I HAVE a knife?) Maybe some fruit? A punnet of strawberries? Nuts?
Any advice appreciated!
Ooooh - bad timing. At 4:30 to 6:00, people will be getting hungry. They’re more likely to eat everything in sight or bail early to go get something to eat.
I would get quite a bit of cheese. For things like Brie/the like, leave them intact with a little knife and some crackers. Other cheeses you may want to dice up.
I would also definitely get fruit, nuts, crackers, chocolates, etc. You can probably get a nice fruit platter (no work) at the supermarket. Then just dump crackers and nuts and things in bowls. Anything you can put out there for people to munch on.
For 30 people, I would be looking at 12-15 bottles of wine, but it’s a whole lot better to have more than you need. (You can always drink it later).
