Comic collection, with the air and humidity perfectly controlled. Or maybe an armory for the Zombie apocalypse.
Interestingly, my lottery fantasies tend more towards having lots of small homes scattered all over the world. Having a gigantic space to do _____ or store my collection of _____ is not something I spend time wishing for.
Like, as long as there’s good plumbing and a decent-sized kitchen in my house in Hawaii with the awesome view, I’d kind of prefer it to be more cottage than villa.
In other words, if I had mad money to spend, I don’t think I’d spend much time at home.
Since no-one said it, an arcade and video game room, with both sleek 4k TVs, and hulking CRTs for the older systems. Everything from Magnavox Odyssey to today, from Japan to Europe and everything in between.
And I guess the cats can sleep on the warm CRTs.
A kitchen with professional equipment and a small walk in cooler. I want a Hobart Mixer by gum! Plus lots and lots and lots of counter space. That’s the one things most contemporary kitchens lack.
I’d also have a nice library room.
A workshop, fully stocked with high end equipment for woodworking, metalworking and automotive restoration.
With my winnings I’d build a home on a mountaintop–the room would be a penthouse with glass walls solely dedicated to a 360-degree view.
I’d have all the possible wrestling action figures in all variations, plus all the little tables, ladders, chairs, championship belts, Hell in a Cell, etc. Then I’d set up a vast diorama.
Books. One of those full fledged libraries with dark wood shelves covering all of the walls, except for a space for a fireplace and some big old fashioned painting over it, and leather chairs.
Sounds cold.
A huge aquarium. I wouldn’t want to maintain it myself, I’d just like a place to relax. Getting bigger than what would typically be called a room I’d have an enormous workshop with every kind of tool there is.
Star Wars Lego
I wouldn’t mind having a large room to house a huge musical instrument collection–especially early instruments, and instruments from all over the world. There’d be space for people to get together and play, and dance.
I didn’t read all the answers, but I DID do a ctrl+F so I know you are all wrong.
The correct answer is of course a room dedicated to nothing but HOOKERS and BLOW!
Sauna.
I was going to say this, but then mentally upgraded to “a smaller duplicate of the SpaceX factory”. I don’t want just any 3D printer; I want something that can print in Iconel superalloy. I want not just an ordinary multi-axis CNC mill, but one that has a volume of at least a few cubic meters. And so on.
I’d want an art gallery. There are tons of fantastic nerdy pop culture posters, miniatures, and creations that I would love to start collecting and supporting. Avoiding a lot of the obviously commercial stuff, I’d go for the indie Etsy* / DeviantArt works.
*Is Etsy still a thing?
My ‘office’ would look like an amped up version of my living room. Awesome book cases, tons of gaming stuff, strange and simple artwork, bigger computer setup. It would not be in the basement. Oh no, it would be the top level, with at least one deck.
No dungeon, but an aerie.
…people I know & love who I know could use help but would never ask. I’d have pictures on a white board with lines drawn to their expenses & shifty experiences… and I’d have a team of people working with me on how we could “accidentally” have a small windfall land at their feet.
Maybe 10-20 new clients.
Maybe their kids “win” a scholarship. (helpful if the parents are split and acrimonious.)
Maybe a new car from some “contest” or “raffle” where I gave them a ticket and they were the only ones entered.
Basically, I’d be an asshole by trying to help the people I love with money without being the additional prick of trying to make them grateful or grovel… because breaking people and robbing them of their confidence just makes the giver a Douche.
My model horse collection, which would explode in size if I had (almost) unlimited funds.
I would have dioramas set up for the, to take pictures for photo shows. One corner would be set up for customizing them. And there would be shelves for them EVERYWHERE!
I could really get behind something like that
