Battlefield 4 for $5. It’s worth that even if it was still broken, but I heard they fixed it up.
Very nice! I’m still only like 1 mission into Battlefield 3 but I may just have to pick that up.
Valve doesn’t need it; they already have steampowered.com.
Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag is 75% off ($9.99, or $14.99 with all DLC).
I love the old Pirates! game, and I generally like AC games well-enough. But I read a lot of cautions about some combination of UPlay, the game crashing, and losing game-saves.
For those who’ve played it, is it worth the risk? I typically don’t have problems playing games on my modern PC, but I don’t typically play UPlay.
Heh, yea, I realize they have a website. I just thought it was odd that after all these years, someone is still squatting on the more obvious domain name. Big companies usually buy those up, even if just to have them redirect to their actual website at a different URL. Since a lot of people here seem to follow gaming news pretty closely, I was wondering if there was a story behind the reason why.
But since I’m probably one of the last three people on Earth that use the url bar to type in actual url’s, and most people access Steam through the client, maybe Valve just doesn’t care.
(actually valve.com also has a squatter. But there at least it seems like someone whose actually trying to make money off the site).
I am one of the others. But anyone who uses that crap ass client to browse the store is making a big mistake. I avoid using that thing whenever possible.
This nonsense again?
You must not be aware that the client was significantly redesigned for the better a couple months back.
I thought AC4:BF was a lot of fun and is well worth the ten bucks. I never did anything with the DLC (although I own it; I’m terrible for that). I’ve heard of people having Uplay issues but Uplay has always worked fine for me.
It seems like Civ 5 expansions have settled in at a $7.50 minimum. I expected them to get down to $5, as Gods and Kings was about a year after its release, but even now the lowest G&K gets is $7.50. So it would appear that that’s their planned minimum price for their expansions.
I guess I’ll grab it at this price. I end up feeling dumb since I could’ve had it at this price 9 months ago. Ah well. If anyone is interested in getting another civ 5 multiplayer game together like we did 1-2 years ago, grab BNW and we’ll give that a try. I think it gives more non-combat ways to compete in the game.
I definitely second this recommendation. After a couple of years I got bored with it, but the new expansions have made the game fun again.
Some great cheapo deals on Steam, all 75% or more:
Trine is $1.49
Trine 2 $1.99
Terraria $2.99
System Shock 2 $2.49
The Binding of Isaac $0.49
Batman Arkham Origins $4.99
Batman Arkham Asylum $4.99
I am thinking of picking up one of the Batman games, is Arkham City or Origins the second in the series? Beyond that, the only things I really want are the new Gauntlet and the Cinemaware Anthology. I am Steam Sale’d out
Arkham City is second in the series. From what I’ve heard, it’s superior to Origins, although I’ve heard that’s because Origins is same old same old. I just bought Origins around Thanksgiving for $7.50 but hadn’t got around to playing it yet, and now MY WORLD IS RUINED that it’s on sale for $2.50 less.
Or, y’know, not.
I prefered Origins to City, but I would definitely say pick up City since it is continues the storyline from the first game. Get both. They are both awesome.
Arkham City is the second in the series. Arkham Origins was made by a different team, and from what I’ve heard it screwed up the combat that was previously one of the high points of the series.
In fact, here’s a whole lot of words by Shamus Young about Arkham Origins, if you’re interested in a read.
Hopefully Rocksteady does a better job for Arkham Knight of implementing the good bits of Warner Brothers Games Montreal’s additions than WBGM did with Rocksteady’s.
I didn’t have high hopes, but the new Shadow Warrior game is great. It’s an old school PC type shooter, fast movement, lots of weapons, very run and gun. Or run and slash. It integrates gunplay, swordplay (very gorey), and ki powers and then gives you bonuses for each fight for variety. So instead of just blasting everyone with your submachine gun, if you chop one guy’s head off, lift a few of the others into the sky using your ki power, and then blow up an electrical transformer near them to blow them all up, then pull out a revolver and then unload onto a guy wild west style, the game will reward you with more types of powers.
It’s very viscerally satisfying and fun. I don’t know how long the campaign is, but for 4 bucks you can’t go wrong.
It toned down the over the top stereotyping of the first game, which is unfortunate. This would be the best game ever if it just went full bore “WHO WANTA SOME WANG!?!?”
Preordering only even makes sense if there is a limited quantity. That way you can guarantee you get a copy when it comes out. Without that, it’s just silly. This is digital. You can buy it the day it comes out by, well, buying it the day it comes out.
Not that PC games don’t also have the added incentive to wait a little longer to see about bugs and patches.
Portal 2 is notable, IMO: this is the lowest it has ever been, albeit only a buck less.
Think I might finally buy Skyrim: Legendary Edition. I played the original on Xbox 360. Be nice to play the expansions.
And mods. Get Frostfall.
Oh, and does anyone have any experience using Clickteam Fusion? If it goes down to $20 I’d like to get it, but I’d like to hear what any of you have to say about it.
