'Bout 1.5" of snow in the central rockies last night. At least way up at my house. Not unusual at all. About 8 years ago, we got 2 feet of snow on this date. I remember it because it’s one of two times I’ve stayed home from work because of snow.

The other time was April 19th. I remember it well too. It was the day of the Oklahoma city bombing.

According to the tarantulas, we here in San Luis Obispo county should see rain within six weeks. Yay!! The past two rainy seasons have been really weak.

I saw my first wild tarantula this week after living here for 11 years so I can verify that they are on the move!

We had temps in the high 90s last week, but we typically have at least one hot spell in October.

So cold and not snowy. That’s just shitty. It’s depressing when it’s cold and things are just brown and dead.

I saw my first wild tarantula this week…

I’m picturing a large, hairy arachnid sitting a the bar, wasted, daring any man, woman or child to mess with him 'cause he’s damn tough and would rather bite you than look at you.

We desperately need rain in California. Folsom Lake looks like a mud puddle, all the rivers are down, terrible fires (man-made catastrophes, but rain would sure help).

You think tarantulas are bad, check out what preys on them (tarantula hawk).

I agree we need the moisture bad here in CA. In the Central Valley there used to be this thick, tule fog, which is dependent on rainfall followed by cold temps. We have not had fog banks in several years around here.

Shit. Again? I live in the region most hard-hit by last year’s snowmageddon and never-ending fucking ice storm.

Snowfall will be above normal in most of the region, with the snowiest periods in mid-December, early and mid-January, and early February.

I am better prepared this year though.
