Winter is very mild

You definitely jinxed it, says this East Coast resident.

-15 F in the central Colorado Rockies 3 days ago. At elevation. That’s not unusual and what we expect at night for a few days or a week.

It’s not really an event unless it gets to -25 or -30.

Odd place to live. We may get up to +25F or so today. It’s kinda weird that it has been overcast for 3 days straight. But no snow. I’d like the sun to come out and melt some ice off the deck.

Or snow or something. Just overcast is strange.

Nope. Still quite warm where the Old Farmer said it would be!

Very mild in the North Shore of Chicago. Had some snow last night but it’s minimal. Of course, in 2011 we had that massive blizzard on January 31/February 1 so who knows but so far it’s been mild.

I wish someone would jinx us! :frowning:

Yeah, this is Pure Uncut Shit Weather. I want some snow, Goddammit!

76 and slightly overcast here. No sign of snow anywhere. But, there’s a 50% chance of rain tomorrow.

What a bunch of liars those ski operators are! This is what the SIERRA-AT-TAHOE NEWS & EVENTS says right now.

Can you believe that? They also have a live webcam showing people skiing and snowboarding, crowds at their lifts.

The “play entire day” on the webcam shows snow, and people enjoying it. That sort of fraud should be criminal. The date stamp on the webcam shows toaday as the day it is showing.

They also report it is 23 degrees F there right now.

Screen capture for evidence

If they are making snow they should say that. Obviously there isn’t any actual snow falling there. (it even says that on the page!)

Ok, you’ve got me beat. Just 1-2 feet expected here. They are still saying “Historic”.

Right about now, if people have vacation & enjoy skiing, they are likely arranging it remotely on lap tops through their HR and driving to the ski slopes in PA, NY, VT & NH. Other people will be packing change-of-clothes bags
and booking hotel rooms near where they work. Me? I’m happy staying home, getting the shoveling done, cleaning off the cars, and (if I’m fast enough) taking the kids and their sleds for a few runs down a local sledding hill.

By me, our first tap of snow was yesterday; it made everyone think about where their shovels were, if they had salt, where they have to park due to plows, and the annual starting of the snow blowers. (Better snowblowers than chainsaws…)

People should be ready for the second tap coming on Monday night.

We are in the at least two feet of snow zone now. EEK. I have diapers, filled water jugs, canned goods, flashlights and shovels outside the house.

8 to 14 inches for me, but I’m a bit west of you.

It’s supposed to be sunny and 58º here tomorrow. In January. Almost in Canada.

(Of course, I was surprised by a – what was it? Twenty-degree drop in just a couple of days a couple of months ago.)

Hey, Count Blucher, LavBlue, Morgyn, SurlyRabbit & our fellow East Coasters, let’s grab a few things & pay Johnny L.A. a visit. You know, pitchforks, flaming torches, & shovels. Lots of shovels.
(14" - 24" coming my way.)
I used to think Johnny L.A. was a good guy.

We’re known for our clam-digging.

You guys could just come to my part of the east coast…we were in the 70s today in S. Florida.

Today is my normal grocery shopping day. It was so packed everywhere I went.

Yeah but now it’s like 50 degrees F, it’s horrible.

A friend over in Hollywood (FL) says it’s 48 by her. I’m showing 56 near me.

It’ll be fine by the time I hit the road in the morning, though. I’ll have the top down for the drive in

It’s forecast to be 70° in Denver tomorrow. 25° above normal.

Let’s split up, those w/ pitchforks head towards Johnny L.A. & those w/ torches visit D/A & help ensure its warm enough for him to go topless!

LavenderBlue, please consider keeping at least One shovel Inside? Doors open outwards & if your door gets snowed shut, you’ll have to dig under/around it to get it to open. If your snow shovels are outside, you won’t be able to get to them to do this.
Also, snow shovels are cool, but flat head garden shovels and maybe a pick from your garden tools will be useful for those gigantic boulders of ice the plows will put in your driveway apron.

PS …and my neighbors who sat on their hands & laughed while I chopped firewood? Gee, I wonder what THEY’RE going to slow-burn?

“Oh look, Mr GQ is chopping firewood.”
Yes. Yes I did.
