Wisconsin farm assets frozen and stolen. No Bull.

Farmers have been having their liquid nitrogen tanks of frozen bull semen stolen. This is a big loss in revenue for the farmer selling and in the genetic breeding program farmers are pursuing. It wouldn’t surprise me if the materials were being sold oversea. The World Dairy Expo in Madison has international attendance and genetic material is sold for high prices to many overseas bidders.

A lesson to learn here farmers is secure you semen tanks better. Insure the contents and not just the tank like the farmer interviewed in the article. The farm lost genetic material that can’t be replaced.

Are unemployed workers stealing semen for blow? Is this an international theft ring to advance Red China’s cattle program? Will it involve Homeland Security and James Bond?

I have to add this related article about the early artificial insemination program started in Wisconsin and vital for the WWII war effort. It’s about bull semen parachuted to farms within hours of need and development of ways to prolong it’s storage that lead to the end of the parachuting semen program.
