I think Ron’s going to be the Gryffindor Quidditch Captain. I also firmly believe that he will be Head Boy during his last year at Hogwarts, and that Gryffindor will again win the House Cup.
I also think that it’s possible that Lily’s & Petunia’s parents were killed by the deatheaters. Petunia’s reactions to Voldemort and the dementors were far too strong for someone who just heard “that awful boy” talking about it.
I think the deatheaters are going to go after Hermione’s parents.
I think we’re going to see more of Narcissa and Bellatrix. Nasty, nasty women. I hope against hope that Neville will be the one to take down Bellatrix, but doubt it will happen in book 6.
I wonder if we’ll ever find out what happened to James’ parents. In OP, Sirius mentions that after he left home at 16, the Potters sort-of adopted him. But presumably they were somehow out of the picture by the time Voldy killed Lily and James, or they could have taken Harry in.
Anyone have any idea how old Lily and James were supposed to have been when they died?
They were born in eithr 1959 and 1960, and died in 1981. Very, very young. They were probably married right out of school.
As for James’ parents, from the Red Nose Day chat:
Q: Do we find out more about James Potters’ family history in the next books?
JKR: Yes, you do…
However, from the World Book Day chat:
Q: What happend to Harry’s grandparents? Will we ever learn about them?
JK Rowling replies -> They’re all dead and not particularly important to the story, although you will find out a little bit more.
No, Harry had to reside in the house where his mother’s blood resided, because it was his mother’s love that had magically protected him from Voldemort. So James’s parents couldn’t have been much help. And I imagine that any attempts by them to have contacted Harry (if they were still alive during Harry’s boyhood) would have been rebuffed by the Dursleys.
On the other hand, I imagine that if they were still alive, they’d have tried to get in touch with Harry at Hogwarts. So I’ll guess they’re dead.
She’s also Deputy Headmaster, which puts her about a half-step above Snape, Flitwick, and Sprout. True that we see her more than the other House leaders because of Harry, but she does have a slightly higher position. She also seems a bit more management-minded that the other three, which would imply that she is the heir apparent to the Headmastership.
Interesting that we never see Sprout or Flitwick mentioned in relation to the order. I’m not sure what (if anything) to make of that.
Or all Heads of House might hold the rank of “Deputy Headmaster.” Has there been any indication in the books that there can only be one “Deputy”? Certainly there’s any number of deputies in a sheriff’s department.
Maybe he already has or had a wife? Perhaps he was married to a woman who remained a death eater? Maybe he loved a woman who was killed by the death eaters? Just speculating here.
Of course, the common belief at my house is that Snape is married to a darling, plump, blonde woman named Dottie Snape. She bakes loads of cookies, loves children, and calls her husband “Sevvy.”
That’s a paraphrase. The exact interview transcript is a good deal more suggestive:
To me, it sounds like she’s dodging the question, not negating it. (But I think that if Snape was ever in love, it was with Bellatrix or Narcissa, not Lily. I can see him being rejected by one of them and turning spy out of sheer spite MUCH easier than I can see him being brought back to the Light by his pure, Petrarchan passion for Harry’s mother.)
BTW, I think Narcissa is going to emerge as a very dangerous baddie. And I wouldn’t be surprised if Ludo Bagman did, too.
I have found one, though haven’t tested it yet: Butterscotch extract and cream soda.
We must also remember that Harry is a half blood, meaning one parent was muggle born.
Really? I may be reading too much fan fiction, but I have a feeling that Narcissa was forced into the marriage with Lucius and is really secretly against Voldemort and his ways.
As for who dies I have a feeling it’ll be Lupin since he’s now sort of a father figure to Harry and those people normally die. Or, as someone else said, maybe Percy will realize what an idiot he has been and saves a family member from death and die himself.
I do picture a political career for Narcissa – I’m hoping we get to see a Wizarding election in this book, since Fudge will gone. I picture Narcissa running the “legitimate” arm of the Death Eaters, passing policies favourable to them.
Things JKR has said, in regards to Movie III, incline me to believe that at some point (probably in book 7, based on the interview on page 1) Snape will sacrifice himself to protect Harry, though he needn’t necessarily die to do so.
Also, (Having now recovered my memory from that nasty Obliviate curse), mentions of Lily’s non-magical family can be found as far back as Movie (Book?) 2. Riddle tells Harry not to worry - that he’ll be with his “dear, mudblood, mother, soon.”
You’ve been reading too much fanfiction. Read the description of her at the Quidditch match in the beginning of Book 4.
Haha, aw man. I still think it would be a good plot if Lucius went to prison(or dies) and her and Draco like changed for the good and helped out in the Order.
I wasn’t going to concur before with your earlier disclaimer, but now I will – you have been reading too much fanfiction
I don’t think Draco’s multiple redemptions in fanfic are going to have a corollary in canon. Like Snape, he’s one of the ones Rowling is shocked people actually like.
He’s really the magical Dudley, and it’s interesting that no one expects a redemption for Dudley. Probably because people imagine Draco as good-looking (though he’s never been described that way), and they don’t see Dudley that way.
(Draco redeemed is one of the ways I can tell someone reads fanfic. Another is the fervent belief that Hagrid’s mother is some sort of giant royalty :D)
Put me down for thinking Ron gets Gryfindor captain, and this time I think Harry is ok with it. After all, Ron knows FAR more about Quiddich and probably has strategy planned out well. What does Harry do? I mean Seekers just hang out waiting for the Snitch.
As for all the other speculation, JKR loves to throw us for a loop, so I’m not sure about anything happening or not happening. I just hope for ONCE in Harry’s tenure at Hogwarts, when the House Cup is given out, its given to another house. Hufflepuff has been neglected so far, I think.
