With One Week To Go, Yet Another "Harry Potter Year 6 predictions" thread (spoilers)

I’m going to avoid going to Mugglenet because they have all these news items that might have possible spoilers. I don’t know because I didn’t look at the links that they provided. I don’t want to know anything about the book’s plot until I actually get it.

Shirley, you must fake sick!! Also hands a Skiving Snackbox over It’s Harry Potter!

:::::cough::::cough:::Whhheeeze::::sniff:::::

What, may I ask, is a Skiving Snackbox?

“You are going to need this.”

Hands over asbestos underwear.

:smack:

Google is my friend.

how do you dopers remember all these details?

We use a remembrall.

Btw, on romances. I think Luna starts flirting heavily with Ron and maybe something happens… leading Hermione to get super jealous (like Ron with Victor). After all, Luna’s last name is “Lovegood” (then again that leads some to think she may end up with Harry… though I don’t see it). I think Harry has to end up with Ginny, who showed in OotP that she’s every bit as strong willed as it seems Lilly Potter was (and, of course, because it gives Harry the family he always wanted in the Weasley’s).

You’ve got it backwards-it was Fleur who took a job with Gringotts to be closer to Bill.

Re: Luna. Rereading #5 last night, it struck me that Luna is possibly the only character who always says exactly what she’s thinking - even Hermione (no great expert in tact) will sometimes shade her words to spare feelings or smooth something over. Whatever her final role is, I expect it to be somehow related to this aspect of her personality.

Many rereadings.

Just don’t go with the Puking Pastilles. Don’t think Fred and George have come up with a way to swallow the antidote yet.

What happens when you don’t have anything in your stomach left to throw up??

Urgh, that’s kind of nasty…

Of course they have. Don’t you recall their demonstration in the common room with the bucket, with Lee periodically vanishing the puke? The students also used them after the twins left to provide some of the symptoms of Umbridge-itis, as I recall.

No, I wouldn’t have remembered that if I hadn’t reread OotP yesterday.

The end result hurts.

A lot.

not that I’d know from experience, or anything. I never want to be that sick again.

I have a very good memory for literature, which comes in handy because I’m a literature student.

But I do have help:

Here you’ll find every bit of information from every interview with JK Rowling, arranged by theme and paraphrased.

Here you’ll find the Harry Potter Lexicon, an encycopaedia so accurate that Rowling uses it to fact-check while writing when she doesn’t have one of her books handy.

The Lexicon, by the way, has a list of everything we know so far about book 7, not including any accidentally-released spoilers.

Most of all, however, there is Jo’s website. The high-graphics version is fun, but you can only link things in the text-only version.

At her website, I recommend:[ul][li]The transcript of the Edinburgh Book Festival, where she talked about book 7.[/li][li]Rumours about what’s happening in the books that she wishes to put to rest.[/li][li]Frequently asked questions about the books (this is probably the best place on her site).[/li][li]And her “extra stuff” section, which includes things she cut out of the books, little-known details about some of her characters, and random facts about her and the books, including the fact that she’s a minesweeper fan :)[/ul][/li]That should keep you all busy until Saturday

Dang it. You’re right. I had forgotten that. It is the one they had trouble with for quite the long time in the book though, right? It’s been about 3 months since I last read OotP, and I’ve gotten rusty :stuck_out_tongue:

I think that they were having problems with all of their Skiving Snackboxes. The Nosebleed Nougat wouldn’t wear off, and a different one would give them boils in places they don’t normally display to the public.

No, Bill was already working for Gringotts, but he was in Egypt breaking curses in the pyramids–he took an office job in London to be closer to Fleur (who was there to improve her English or some such) and the Order. Or maybe being near one or the other was just a happy coincidence, I forget.

Being near the order, and it was just happy coincidence that now he’s near Fleur.

Thanks. After considering it more I thought that was the likelier way of things, but sadly I don’t have the book here with me.

I’ve actually experienced this once at the age of 10 when I had the WORST stomach bug ever. I puked nine times. Eventually, I started puking up mucus and then just saliva.

…ew.
