Withdrawing an insurance claim (need answer fast)

Long story short…

A friend notified his insurance company verbally about some minor damage to his leased car. The company has issued some paperwork, but friend hasn’t responded in writing. Friend now believes it may be advantageous to deal directly with the leasing company and wants to withdraw the claim.

Can he simply call back and say, “Forget I ever called” without ramifications to his premium?

I’m skeptical that one can overcome the inertia of an insurance company (Geico in this case) once they get going. The car needs to go back this weekend, hence the rush. Thanks for any advice.

He doesn’t even need to call. Nothing in writing = no claim.
