I love this idea ! Just hope the public turn up. From a personal perspective, I’d also like to see ‘I’m All Right Jack’ on the list because it’s ‘important’ – a big slab in paving the way for the 60’s satire boom and a very pointed comment on social discord. And Sellers was so good.

Meanwhile, in other news, the results of this 10-yearly poll were announced yesterday:
"Citizen Kane by Orson Welles, about the life of newspaper tycoon Charles Foster Kane, is the best film ever made, according to a global critics’ poll.
The poll of international critics and directors was carried out by the British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound magazine. "
Citizen Kane (Welles) 1941
Vertigo (Hitchcock) 1958
La Regle du Jeu (Renoir) 1939
The Godfather I and II (Coppola) 1972, 1974
Tokyo Story (Ozu) 1953
2001: A Space Odyssey (Kubrick) 1968
Sunrise (Murnau) 1927
Battleship Potemkin (Eisenstein) 1925
8 1/2 (Fellini) 1963
Singin’ in the Rain (Kelly, Donen) 1951
Probably only handy as a reference for those wanting a reminder of things they want to see, but a bit of fun.
I’m All Right Jack is one of my favorites aswell. A couple of my fathers old friends (he was a shop steward in a garage) are Peter Sellers character IRL. Sellers is brilliant as usual and Terry Tomas to boot. “I shay ole boy. Ding Dong”.
I’ve only seen 5 of that 10
Kane is IMO worthy of the first place.

Noooo. I only saw this a few months ago and was impressed with how it stood the passage of time. It’s still as black as black can be. Oh YMMV and all that.
