Let me pipe in and say I’m not a woman and I’m straight, but I think flacid peni look unsexual where as erect peni are in sex mode, hence more sexual. Even for straight men type porn (x rated guy/girl stuff) if the guy is flacid it says to me he’s not really into the sexy babe he’s with and it’s less sexual.
My wife thinks flacid peni are funny looking, but she’s all over the erect ones.
Wait, that doesn’t sound right.
…she’s all over MY erect one.
Of course, I wasn’t the target for your question… so I’ll just shut up now.
I don’t find ‘visual’ porn attractive no matter what sort of state the bloke is in. As delightful as they can be, men’s bodies in magazines/websites etc do not turn me on at all. Further, I can’t understand why (some, most??) men find such piccies of women attractive. I put it down to some sort of ‘wiring’ difference between the sexes.
On the other hand, give me a well-written erotic STORY and I’ll turn into a raging, slavering sex-fiend. :eek:
Naked is just naked. Flaccid, erect, whatever–it’s just some naked guy. Call me a stereotypical girl, but I have no emotional investment in just some pic of a nude guy. I like a hint of mystery, a hint of personality, something other than a big hard dick to pique my interest. A steamy R-rated movie sex scene, or even 2 people on Blind Date going at it, is far more sensual to me than your blanket porno movies. Pornos are just, well, reeeeeeeaaally boring for me.
Actually, I kind of like to see them flaccid for a bit before they get hard. It’s just this thing I have for flaccid penises (penes? penii? oh, whatever). I like to see them before and after.
Reminds me of some gay softcore some friends lent me, from PrideVision. In the whole movie, I saw a total of two erect penises. No hardcore sucking, fucking, or cum shots at all. Many, many flaccid penises. A very interesting viewing experience.
Well put, Ruffian - sums my thoughts exactly. A man is more than his parts, and while I may enjoy looking at the parts, genitals have no special power visually. Eyes, on the other hand, can melt me to my core, but that’s another discussion. Dare I say that apart from intellectual curiosity and comparative anatomy, I really don’t pay much attention. Well, except for my husband, of course, and his state is merely another form of non-verbal communication.
If you mean one of those standing-in-the-middle-of-a-wheat-field-or-some-shit-with-a-goofy-grin-and-a-huge-erection-for-no-apparent-reason pictures, no they don’t do much for me. If I just want to admire his beautiful body, flaccid is actually more aesthetic, I think.
On the other hand, if there’s a purpose- another person, say- well, sexual excitment is exciting.
I’m with kambuckta et al. A picture of a gorgeous burnin’ hunk of man with no shirt and unbuttoned jeans or well-cut boxer trunks on is WAY sexier than a nude picture will ever be to me.
Arrrgghh!!! The damnable “missing OP” has finally struck me! I feel violated.
Anyway the original post was along the lines of, every time I see male pornography the man is almost always flaccid. This seems counterintuitive to me, and I wanted to know if women really do find a picture of a erection less appealing. Also I said that while gay men are welcome to post, I do not think that there would be any correlation between them and women.
Erect all the way. I’m far more visual than the theory books tell me women are–I’ve seen a lot of posts from women on these boards indicating they’re the same way I am, so I’m not sure whether we’re an anomalous group, or the theory is not completely accurate (or perhaps it simply shows how amazingly diverse human sexuality can be). In any case, I find pictures of men in all their aroused glory tremendously erotic. I love penises, I love looking at them, I love everything about them.
I’m not a pornographer or a highly cultivated consumer thereof or anything, but I would think that if visual porn was to appeal to women, …well…
a) a series of pics that, along with a narrative text in a box somewhere on each page, tell a story;
b) the penises in question start off flaccid and/or clothed, and the sequence of pix illustrates changes in this situation.
