women, sex drive, and anti-depressants

Wellbutrin has, for me, a positive effect on my sex drive. I have the most AMAZING orgasms. Seriously.

I’ve tried a couple of SSRIs but they didn’t work on the depression. Celexa, I should note, I had a hard time stopping because despite its reputation as being easier to go off of than Prozac and the others, I had bad withdrawal effects–dizziness and headaches.

Hell, reading this thread–I’m on venlafaxine (Efexor), my sex drive has stalled horribly, and I’m a GUY! (Of course, being separated from my wife, and the need to switch the “sex” part of my brain off, hasn’t helped).

Valerie Solanis (the one who shot Andy Warhol) said that men would “wade a mile through a sea of vomit up to their nose” for sex. I don’t think I would cross a pedestrianized street. Even if it was Juliette Binoche on the other side.

I’ve been taking Paxil for over 3 years now and my sex drive has been pretty nil the whole time time. But I’m don’t think it’s all the fault of the Paxil, I think other physical problems have had a significant impact as well. Life sucks, but I’m in therapy.
