Women: What's a normal number of underwear to own at any given time?

I have about 5 pairs of daytime panties (seamless to try to avoid panty lines), 6 or so of nighttime panties (comfy), and 6 or 7 of ridiculous panties that I rarely wear. So I guess 11 to 18 or so. I want some more though.

Where the heck do these undies get stored anyway? That seems ridiculous. I’ve got about 14-21 days of utilitarian, “every day” under wear and a few - maybe 7 or so - nicer pairs that I wear when I’m seducing my husband and even that is a pain in the butt (ha) to find room for.

Huh? Neatly stacked they don’t take much space. Even when I had the most amount, they took less than half a drawer, folded and stacked. Now they take just one long row of a drawer.

Bras take more space, but currently, stack and folded, about half a drawer.

Yea, the rest of my house is a disaster, but my drawers are pretty well organized.

1st: enough to be sure they won’t run out of clean underwear. The actual amount will depend on the washing pattern: “access to washing only once a forthnight”, better have enough for a month just in case the washing machine chooses that day to break; “there is washing 6 days a week but different things”, you can have less.

Women don’t do the old, handwash a single piece in a sink and hang out to dry under a fan in summer, on the radiator in winter trick?

That’s excellent for travelling especially when in a hotel you discover that your suitcase is packed in such a way that most of your underwear is at the bottom of the pile.

That’s excellent for travelling especially when in a hotel you discover that your suitcase is packed in such a way that most of your underwear is at the bottom of the pile.

My older female relatives do that, which is why they still have about 5 pieces each.

Me? I only do a handwash prewash if it is too dirty and when it dries it gets tossed in the laundry. Again, I have plenty, and seldom go “OMG, I’ve run out of clean underwear!”
