Woo-hoo - got my new motorcycle!

Okay, so it’s mundane & pointless, but I’m bursting with pride for my new possesion and sadly living far away from my regular motorcycling crowd, whose ears I’d normally fill. Please bear with my gushing.

I finally got my hands on the bike of my dreams and am now the extremely proud owner of a brand-new butter-yellow Ducati 748 Biposto. This bike is a BLAST! From its indecent good looks and its raspy sound to its cornering capabilities.

People (and we’re talking otherwise reserved Germans here) approach me in the street to tell me how good it looks, it’s amazing. The sound - throaty bass-notes from the exhaust, rattling clutch (hey, it’s Italian - it’s supposed to sound that way!) and slurping from the air intake - it’s sexy in the most unsubtle way. Sigh!

Right, the challenge is: I’ve yet to come up with a name for her - and I quickly realized that the Dopers would be just the right kind of crazies to help me here.

One ground rule: Gender specific names MUST be female - this bike is definitely of the fairer sex. Oh, and “Belladonna” is taken, it was the name of my old bike, although it would fit the new one quite nicely.

Suggestions, anyone ?

I’ll paint the name on the right exhaust (or have someone with a safer hand paint it for me) and post a photo on the net. Likewise, whoever thinks up the winning name is offered a back seat ride to any destination within a 200 km radius from Hamburg - your legs will cramp long before 200 kms, anyway.

Right, a couple of hours daylight still left and the roads look dry - I’m off.

One very happy S. Norman

What time are you picking me up?

Congratulations on the new bike! I’ve always liked Ducatis. I think Yamahas are faster, more maneuverable and cheaper (I’m biased); but Ducatis have the prettiest engines, and nice styling. AND they perform.

I don’t have a name for you. Around here, everyone just calles them “ducks”.

Vroooooooooommmmm!!!

Now that is a bike

They improved the reliability since Ducati was bought out two years ago so you won’t have the ‘character’ of Italian engineering any more.

I’m looking forward to the replacement wondering how they will top it.

What with the MV Agusta, the Benelli Tornado, the new Laverda triple, and the Aprilia RSV it’s been a great year for Ialian bikes hasn’t it? and there’s more to come.

[envy]Dang it you are one lucky SOB[/envy]

[Swiddle’sFather] You freakin’ live in Germany and you DIDN’T buy a BMW? For shame. [/Swiddle’sFather]

Dad’s first bike was a Ducati, and he still gets teary talking about it. As I have been listening to The Commitments a lot of late, I suggest Sally, as in Mustang Sally. Sure, it’s not a Mustang, and sure, it’s not even a car. But Sally is such a swell name for any vehicle.

My car’s name is Skipperdee. Anyone who gets the referance gets a ride anywhere in a 200 km radius from Burlingon. But it won’t be as much fun as a Norman’s.

I love the Ducatis…beautiful machines. Drive safe
