Woodworking: slicing timber?

Apparently, it’s Robinia pseudoacacia.

That’s the one.

We call it black locust. It’s an American tree, but has become naturalized in Europe. I agree with Mangetout – it’s a beautiful wood, and very rot-resistant. It’s not widely commercialized here, for reasons that escape me. It’s reasonably common, grows to a good size, and looks to me like a very fine cabinet wood. I’ve only seen it, never used it – but I’ve seen a number of the trees chopped up and essentially thrown away.
