I hope he wins the lawsuit! I want to see those movies. (I also want to see the Woody Allen homage Louis CK made, titled “Hello, Daddy”. My understanding is that he bought back the rights to the film, so hopefully it will be available for download from his website at least at some point.)
I’m gonna walk right out on a limb and declare that the whole family is really some fucked up. Beyond that, Mr.Allen has long given me the willies. My back neck hair raises. He’s an authentic creep. And I don’t like his movies either.
At one point in my life, I was a huge Woody Allen. I had grown away from him when accusations of molestation had occurred. I figured it was another powerful man getting away with a crime. To be fair, I read the headlines but never plunged deep into the story to form anything but a superficial opinion. I thought of Mia Farrow as a saint for adopting all of those disabled kids and Allen’s relationship with Soon-Yi didn’t help either.
Allen’s son Moses wrote a blog in his dad’s defense. A real eye opener. In summary, Mia Farrow is a troubled woman with a dark history. Moses was in the home when the alleged molestation took place and explains why it could have never happened.
And then what happened?

S/he’s teasing you about the typo.
I’ve interacted with you enough to know that you’re generally in favor of powerful men getting away with crimes. I suspect it’s the Jewishness that offends you more than the molestation, because I suspect you’d be in favor of molestation if it meant “owning the Libs”.
Not sure if it was mentioned in this thread or another, but Woody and Soon-Yi celebrate their 22nd wedding anniversary this year, so they’re dong better than a lot of Hollywood couples.
Nice!

Hachette cancels plan to publish Woody Allen memoir:
Staff at Hachette’s New York office walked out in protest

It was a difficult one because it was a wrong one. The man is innocent.
Woody and Soon-yi mark 23 years of marriage this year. Happy anniversary, you two lovebirds.
You going to wish them happy anniversary next year too?
Sure. Why not?
Woody Allen was really before my time, so it’s hard for me to really “get” him, so I don’t have any personal attachment to his work. I know a lot of people really like him; I know a lot of people were also creeped out by his marital situation; that’s about all I know. With that being said, I’m not sure exactly what the guy is supposed to do about this accusation. There were never any criminal proceedings, right? It happened a very long time ago. There’s no way to prove anything. He hasn’t had any other such accusations against him, as far as I can tell. He certainly doesn’t appear to fit a long term pattern of sexual misconduct allegations like Harvey Weinstein’s ilk. (Has anyone else even come forward with any stories of creepy behavior from him?)
What is Allen supposed to do? Just give up on his career and stop working?
Woody Allen is a difficult case for me. I love his movies. And the accusation against him is nowhere as clear cut as other one’s. Yet, after listening to Ronan Farrow talk about the matter, I can’t dismiss it.
And then there is at least one story of creepy behavior from Mariel Hemingway — Mariel Hemingway Says Woody Allen Tried to Seduce Her When She Was a Teenager | Vanity Fair
Why can’t you dismiss it? Actual real investigators investigated and dismissed it as unfounded.
Before passing judgment, people should read Moses Farrow’s statement about the accusations against Woody Allen. Not only does Moses dispute the whole thing, but he makes out Mia Farrow (his mother) to be a monster in her own right.
Moses Farrow is a lying scumbag. Woody Allen fans just don’t want to admit their guy’s a kitty diddler, even though the fucker married his stepdaughter when she was 18 and he was, what, 50? No, assholes, spare me the tired excuses about how she was of age and he wasn’t legally her stepdad. It’s creepy and it doesn’t say you guys are all brave crusaders for poor rich downtrodden Hollywood kiddy diddlers. It adds an interesting aspect to the way dudes on this board slut shame 11-year-old gang rape victims and routinely accuse rape victims of lying.
Trotting out variations of butitsnotillegal! never seems to happen when the accused is a woman and the accusation is bullshit. Watching dudes on the Dope bend over to defend their male heros while accepting any accusation against any woman and then whining about being accused of sexism gets tedious.
Here’s some links that you Allen apologists won’t read bit will demand.
Funny how Moses avoids the shit that makes his argument look bad, like the fact that Allen was in therapy for being creepy around Dylan, that Allen failed a polygraph, and the only thing that kept Woody from being tried was the prosecutor’s concern for Dylan’s fragility. There’s also some doubt as to whether or not Moses was even in the house that day. The police report does not list him as being present, it seems. Wikipedia says he was outside the house in the woods or something. Why should I link any more stuff? The Allen stans won’t read it.
Ronan Farrow notes that [Woody offered him money]for his college fees if he’d change his tune.](Ronan Farrow Responds to Brother’s Essay About Woody Allen) He didn’t. Looks like Moses did.
Moses doesn’t mention why, if Mia was so very very determined to blacken Woody’s name that she never went to the cops and that she tried to keep Allen’s name out of it.Those evil feeeemales, conspiring to bring down illustrious men by…inventing the Russia Hoax so Hillary would win the election by stealing millions of votes only to lose by 80,000 votes and then conspiring with Ukraine to…huh? Oh, wait, different paranoid women-are-evil campaign. Sorry.
Funny how none of the doods here cite Dylan herself. Looks like Woody finally whipped out that checkbook. Moses is quite a guy. While his brother brings down sexual predators, Moses dumps his pregnant wife. Plus all these defenses of Woody rely heavily on the scorned woman trope, which simply does not exist for men. People recite the phrase, “Heaven hath no fury,” at the drop of a hat, but there’s no like phrase for women.
Anyway, toodles. I look forward to you all not reading one goddamned thing and responding with nitpicks and derriére-chapeautery.
No, they didn’t. How reassuring to see this claim. . Among other things, Allen lost custody because it was felt Dylan needed to be protected from him.
