Whoop…sorry. The linked thread was all about the dog’s name, Billy The Kid. I didn’t care for it, but it’s grown on me a bit. Well, at least the “Billy” part.
I pretty much just call him “dog”, though. Or “buddy”.
I love the pictures near the end with Dog sleeping and Cat standing in front, possibly thinking “I must kill this intruder in his sleep. I will- oh, shit, he’s awake.”
Heh…yeah, with the exception of our turtles, Billy is probably the smallest of our pets.
Unfortunately, it seems that he’s getting a bit more comfortable around the house. It looks like that good behavior he displayed in sleeping with us that first night was just plain timidness. Last night was a different story. Lay down. Get up. Climb on daddy. Lay down on daddy. Get kicked off of daddy. Lay down. Repeat. I think I totaled three or four hours of sleep. I’m thinking his bedroom pass is going to be revoked.
But, other than that, he’s a pretty damn good dog. And kittenlm is learning the joys of dog ownership (a.k.a. “rain or not, the dog still needs to be walked” :))
He’s very sweet. I read the other re-name Billy thread, and enjoyed the photos posted in that one. I just wanted to point out that Billy has a happy little twinkle in his eyes that wasn’t there in the pictures of him at the rescue agency. You’ve made this little guy very happy. Now quit your bitchen about the sleeping arrangements, happy little dogs need their rest (and fuzzy warm blankets, a pillow, and lots of contact with the people they love)
We adopted a rescue dog at almost that exact same age. The first few days we had him, we’d take him offleash with us to get the morning paper. Now I look back on that and say  ! He was off “best behavior” in a very short time.
BTW, training him to get off the bed and go to his beanbag was pretty easy. In fact, he knows now that he can come into bed with us if he gets our permission, but if we say Off he needs to stay on the floor.
Awww, what a cutie. He reminds me of my puppy Stella. (Sorry no pics. I’ll work on that but, for now, you’ll just have to take my word ).
Stella will be 1 on Halloween and she topped out at about 25 lbs. Mucher smaller than I expected. But it turns out, she’s the perfect size: big enough to really play but small enough to not be threatening.
I hope Billy is as entertaining for you as Stella is for me!
