WOOHOO! It's Pro Bowl Day!!

Yes! The NFL season comes to a close with its star-studded event, the Pro Bowl!

Can you feel the excitement? Are you all atingle with anticiaption for this annual classic?

Will the NFC back up the suprise win in that “big game” with a victory over the 3-point favorite AFC? Many of the biggest stars decided not to attend, but still, this should be another one for the ages – right up there with other classic Pro Bowls, like…

…errr…

Ahhh, crap. Ok, you win. I can’t pull this off with a straight face. Here’s your ten bucks.

Pitchers & Catchers report next week and thankfully the **Giants ** did an incredible job bridging the horrible time period known as the “Off-Season”.

I think I watch a Pro Bowl game back in the 1980s maybe even as recently as 1992.

Jim

I usually watch it, or at least turn it on while I’m reading a book or something. Not that it’s ever really entertaining, but hell, it’s the last football game until August.

I watch it…last dose of the year…hurry up preseason!

The scary thing is that newspapers carry a “line” for the Pro Bowl. This implies that somebody, somewhere, is betting on the game. If that doesn’t qualify one for automatic induction into Gamblers Anonymous, I don’t know what would.

They kicked away from Cribbs on the first kickoff. Apparently the pro bowl team figured out what normal NFL teams didn’t, despite repeatedly being given the lesson…

I watch it if only to mourn the passing of another football season.

Current Yahoo! Sports NFL page:

Ummm…

Damn! Was that today? Why didn’t Fox bother to promote the Pro Bowl during last week’s Super Bowl? I really, really wanted to watch.

It is still better than hockey.

Betting on the NIT?

Well, gosh, who won? Please don’t keep me in suspense!

I have never watched a Pro Bowl. Never. I think I have seen every Baseball Allstar game in at least the last 20 years.

I sat front row behind the AFC bench. It was an amazing experience. The players where only a few yards away. The best part: hearing the players and coaches joke with each other on the sidelines. The worst part: sunburn on the left side of my face.

I used to try to watch back in the day because I found it vaguely entertaining. However, on Saturday, I ran across a show on the NFL network that made my jaw drop. It was televised coverage of the NFC’s practice session! And in between, there were some fascinating moments like spending three minutes watching some guy I’d never heard of sign autographs. This was live television.

I sort of lost interest. I’d completely forgotten about it until I saw this thread title. So who did win (because I refuse to exert the effort to go look it up myself)?

You know you’re a football fanatic when you find yourself anticipating Combines and NFL Draft Weekend. But I’ve never been able to watch a Pro Bowl game. It’s like a weird converse of scab season football: instead of no-name non-pros in real teams, you’ve got real stars playing in ad-hoc totally fake “teams”.

Of the four major professional North American team sports, the NFL probably has the lamest all-star game. However, I sometimes wonder if its timing has a lot to do with it. Does anybody think there’d be greater interest in the Pro Bowl if it was played around mid-season like the other all-star games?

There would be more interest, but the risk of injury is so much higher in football, that it will never happen.

Jim

It was the Superbowl everybody wanted: Cowboys vs Patriots.

Except Romo sucked again and Brady was a no-show.
