Woot! Woot! Phase three is here, yay!

For most parts of Ontario ‘Phase Three’ is coming in a couple of days.

It means, ‘MOST’ businesses can open, (must meet certain precautions!). Dining indoors, again with precautions established, plastic dividers, tables far apart etc. And groups can now be up to 100 people, which means, weddings and funerals can resume, again with distancing, etc being observed.

This is really good news, our numbers have been low in South Western Ontario, mostly nursing homes and migrant farm locations. Now all under special observation and protocols.

I’m hoping things will bounce back quickly and, fingers crossed, that these opening don’t need to be rescinded due to numbers spiking because people won’t comply with best practices!

Cool, good luck with it all. I hope it goes smoothly.

Praise be! Since I’m not into saunas, facials, casino table games and since my area (which might be your area too) has few cases so is currently low risk… will be pleased to see more businesses reopen.

Like @Dr_Paprika, I’m not interested in any of these things. Toronto won’t get them for a couple of weeks anyways.

While the idea of a sit down meal appeals to me, I don’t think I’m going to rush out for one. I think of all the changes getting a haircut last month was the most significant for me. I am looking forward to holding my 3 week old great nephew hopefully before the end of the summer. Personally I’d like to see a new infection rate below 1/1M/day before we go to Stage 3 here. As of today, we at about 4.6/1M.

Please don’t take this the wrong way, but I hope that announcements like yours don’t cause tourists to think, “Ontario sounds like a great place to visit!”.

Sounds like the bars are not opening, which is where Michigan screwed up. That and people thinking the beach was a safe zone. People from Michigan can still not go to Canada, so you got that going for ya!

No, bars are already open. Hubs brews beer in one and he’s been back about a week or more now. Again, pretty strict protocols. All table service, currently patio only, no bar stand up stuff. You can’t go table to table, tables 6’ apart, masks, etc. It’s pretty chaotic for the staff and owners, but they seem to be muddling through. And if you have parking you can expand distance seating Into that area, a big help!

Michigan basically had no protocols or social distancing enforced in most bars, indoor or outdoors. Lot’s of the staff didn’t wear mask . Hell even strip clubs were giving lap dances without anyone wearing mask.

And people wonder why the Michigan Governor had to come down hard having businesses enforcing mask wearing or face fines. I’m sure our neighbor to the east/north/south will handle this better.

The US Canada border is currently closed to non-essential travel. Outdoor gatherings are limited to 100 people; indoor ones to 50. No concerts. Just patio restaurants and bars for now. So no one is going to come to Ontario for a haircut or wait in line to go to the gym. No worries.

I read there was a problem in BC, Americans crossing the border saying they are headed to Alaska, then going wherever they want to skip the quarantine. The buggers!

We’re encountering this here in Alberta. Cars with American state plates have been spotted in Waterton Lakes National Park, Banff National Park, and Lake Louise; none of which are on the shortest route between the lower 48 and Alaska.

Maybe Canada should build a big beautiful wall and ask Trump to pay for it. :yum:

The problem with a Canadian wall is that it would be made primarily of plexiglass, and to get through you just have to open the little hockey door.

@Beckdawrek

Is it any wonder I love you!

  :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I hope I’m not the only one, but I saw the thread title as meaning you had finally got three phase electrical power run to your place. I opened the thread just because I think three phase power is nifty and have always wished I had it myself.

Surely somebody else is here because that’s what they thought too, right? Anybody??
