Word help - what is a good adjective for son?

Or maybe I mean adverb…e.g.

Let me give you some fatherly advice, son.

Thanks, old timer. Now let me give you some sonly (?) advice.

Is there a better way of saying this? Don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone use the word sonly IRL.

Filial

And fatherly (like filial) is an adjective, which is what you want. While most words ending in “-ly” are adverbs, there are a number of adjectives that end that way: lovely, goodly, princely, etc.

Little Man

Thanks guys - filial is exactly the word I was searching for.

But I think the corresponding adverb to filial would be paternal. Both have a more formal connotation than ‘fatherly’. So I don’t think there is a word that exactly matches what the OP wants. Sonly, as he said, would seem to be the closest, but that isn’t really a word.

Sonly is a perfectly cromulent word. And avuncular means “like an uncle,” IIRC.

'Sonly rock and roll, but I like it…
