HELP

Screwed up my example:
13579
whelming
The above would be “overwhelming odds”

#4, since you said it’s in bold print, seems to me to be “a dark day.”

#6 seems like “Tee-totaler”

#3 could be “break with custom.”

#3 is “Mad About You”

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

How about “first person singular”?

How about the answers are in back of the book?

That fairy wolf duckling answer is crap. I acknowledge that’s the standard answer to that one, but come on! That’s not in the spirit of the rest, which all seem to depend on the idea of taking the typesetting literally in some clever way.

Anyone have a better one?

no,

Good fairy.

Big bad wolf.

Ugly duckling.

Sorry, no book, no answers.

Thanks for the help. I don not like riddles that don’t present themselves with the same spirit. Someone handed me a sheet of numerous word puzzles like this, and most were fairly consistent. As I feared, some were in BOLD or Caps, or stacked vertically, yet the order or type face meant nothing. A real riddler wouldn’t present the riddles this way.

THANKS!

Philster, at amazon.com you can find books by Henry Hook that are just like these. They are great. They have the solutions in the back.

Thanks! I thought the Dopers would be faster/cheaper.
