Word Trade Centre survivors die on Flight 587

This is pretty sad:

Two passengers who died on Flight 587 narrowly escaped death two months ago at the World Trade Centre.

Felix Sanchez thanked God after he fled his office at the Twin Towers minutes before it was destroyed on September 11.

Hilda Yolanda Mayor worked in a store on the ground floor of the north tower and escaped unharmed.

Mr Sanchez, a 29-year-old broker for Merrill Lynch, and 26-year-old Ms Mayor, were both on the flight to Santo Domingo.

Mr Sanchez’s friend, Sid Wilson, told the New York Post: “After the World Trade Centre, he had a renewed outlook on life - and the last time I saw him, he was so high on life. I can’t believe this.”

Ms Mayor lived in New York with her husband and was jetting to the Dominican Republic to pick up her two children who are with relatives.

Someone in #sd last night mentioned a woman that was supposed to have been on one of the WTC flights, but was for one reason or another who was on the one AA flight yesterday.

What an amazing pile of bad luck.

You know what else is sad?

250 or so other people died on that flight too.

Sad, but not surprising. Given the massive number of people that survived the attacks (something like 30,000, wasn’t it?) you probably could select 100 people at random from NY and get one or two.

These people will be forevermore marked as WTC attack survivors. In the coming year or so, I suspect there will be several events where someone who survived the attack died from X
