In hard mode, I probably would have gone SHELF for the second one, so, then again, probably would have ended up SWELL>SMELT anyway, depending on what came to me first.
I kind of want to run a letter analysis on the guess list and/or answer list identifying all the ‘trap letters’. (That’s a term I just made up.) Think of the trap from last month: SHA_E. Could be any of 7 possibilities: shade, shake, shale, shame, shape, share or shave. The trap letters in this example would be DKLMPRV, and we could quantify this as a 7-trap.
I kind of really want to write a program to identify all the trap letters. I think I could do it without really looking at the word lists too closely. Plus I don’t need to know the trap words, only the trap letters.
I would like to base my starting word on ‘using up’ as many of the biggest trap letters as possible. (Not 100% sure what exactly ‘biggest’ would mean in this context.)
Sadly, as much as I really do want to do this, it is overwhelmingly more likely I’ll just play Cities Skylines instead. Probably for the best. It might ruin Wordle for me the same way writing a sudoku solver ruined sudoku for me. Took all the fun out of playing.
