On reflection, HOIST might have been a superior second guess, though my guess turned out better. I was so focused on vowels I didn’t consider SHOWN at the end.

My vowel-heavy approach worked to my disadvantage today; should have been getting the common consonants out there. I actually thought of SHOWY before SHOOT, but went for the more common word. Never even saw SHOWN, so I could have really been screwed. Bullitt’s Wheel of Fortune strategy would have avoided both of those pitfalls.

At step 4 I was 50/50 on trying SOGGY or SHOWY; picked the wrong one.

I never thought of doing that–might be a smart precaution, in case of future issues.

I’m not sure what it was I did that caused the problem, but it was something to do with rejecting “being” Person 1. (In other words the system interpreted it as if a different user was using the same computer. I think.)

But once I clicked on “being” Person 1 again, I did get everything back. And since I did this during yesterday’s 24 hours I was able to re-play Wordle (as described in my post) and thus preserved my current streak and other stats.

It certainly was an annoying interlude! (Thanks for your several suggestions, which I may well end up using in some other situation.)

Oh, I didn’t realize you had gotten everything back. Awesome! I was looking at some info about how to get stats back if you lose them, and there is a way to do it by doing some “under the hood” kind of stuff on your computer (not too difficult). The stats are stored in your local storage on the computer (so I was wrong that it’s not stored on the computer itself).

If your browser clears the cache, that may clear the local storage - not 100% sure, but if you clear stuff manually or use a cleaner, whitelist your browser so stuff won’t get cleared on it. I think cookies and history are probably fine, but cache may be risky to clear. Wish Wordle would tell everyone how to be sure not to lose the stats.

Also, what’s interesting is I am not actually signed onto my browser, so you don’t have to be, but maybe since you have been signed on whilst playing Wordle, it is always going to be tied to that profile. But if a person never signs in, then it doesn’t matter.
