Definitely the toughest one for me so far; relieved to get it in the end.

This was tough. Got it in 5.

2nd guess was a mistake (I left the 4th letter in place). Had two words for number 4, picked the wrong one. Oh well.

17/18 so far. That one miss still haunts me…

I thought the anti-Wordle game was quite fun! I can’t get any better than six so far. It’s fun trying to figure out the best way way to narrow down the word list so the computer has no choice but to pick the word you’ve guessed. I like it, though its deterministic nature will eventually hamper replay value.

Took some thought between 3 and 4.

Phew! That was an absolute bastard of a game.

Started with AEONS as promised and thought I was onto a winner when the first letter showed green.

Especially with your first and fourth letters green starting with your 2nd word! What were your words? (Was one of them ASKEW?)

No, because I had already ruled out the s.

It was
AEONS
ARCED
ALIEN
AXMEN (stupidly used the N again after ruling it out)
ABBEY

Ahh thanks, was curious. Man oh man, those double letters can really throw us for a loop!

I’m worried for when there will be two double letters, with words like

LLAMA
ALLAY
LOTTO
PENNE

Then there’s also words with a triple letter, with words like

EERIE
ADDED
MELEE
SISSY

Oh my gosh are there any 5 letter words containing a double letter and a triple letter??!!

God help us all.

A few that I’ve found (e.g. arara) but nothing common enough to be used in Wordle presents itself as of yet.

Five-letter English word that contains only two distinct letters - Puzzling Stack Exchange.

So there are a number, but I don’t think Wordle would use any of those. ESSES I’m pretty sure I’ve even used a few times on this board, but the other likely ones are alternate spellings of words like “nana” and “mama.”

Tricky. Meant to do “hard mode” but forgot to turn it on, which definitely helped with guess #3 letting me eliminate a bunch of consonants. Although I might have gotten it in 4 if I had done hard-mode; it just would have taken awhile to think of my next guess.

STARE
BEACH
NAMED
ABLER
ABBEY

I can’t find it to link, but I was reading one of the hundreds of clickbait Wordle articles that have sprung up lately, and it claimed that (a) the answer is never a plural noun (or almost never? Darn short-term memory loss) and, more alarmingly, that (b) there is indeed one answer that will someday be used which uses only two different letters. I have no idea what that could possibly be.

I can’t believe it took me so long to come up with a possible answer for A__E_. Not only did I forget ABBEY, but also ALLEY?

My fifth five. I can’t see how you get it in three without an overpowering amount of luck.
