Another trap! If I went through it systematically, I think the only other answer was GLOVE, but I panicked about seeing the possibilities of GL, FL and PL so I went for another letter search on five. I don’t think I can take too many more of these.

I got lucky! I couldn’t believe it when I saw all the tiles turning green!

After getting the E in SLATE, I tried to think of a word with an O, an R, any other fairly common letter, and an E that wasn’t at the end. POWER was the first word I though of that fit all of those slots, but I never expected it to be the answer.

I can’t believe I got this in 4…I had a really long list of words it could be after my 3rd word. So I just went with the one that I was feeling the most…either I’m psychic or luck just was on my side. 
No worries…can happen to anyone! Heck, I put up my guess words not long ago without spoiler blur! But I caught it in time to edit, thankfully.

The _LO_E ‘trap’ I fell into after my first two guesses fortunately wasn’t that much of trap, with only 4 words I could come up with that fit, and one of them, BLOKE, was a previous solution, so really only 3 to choose from: GLOBE, GLOVE, ELOPE.

I think you are misremembering. BLOKE hasn’t been a Wordle since this thread started last December. BLOCK wasn’t a Wordle either. FLOCK was (on 7/18), but not BLOCK.
BLOKE was the solution to Wordle #250.
It’s one I particularly remember, because to me it’s the quintessential example of Wardle having a rather Brit-leaning vocabulary.
ETA: Not sure what FLOCK and BLOCK are about. My ‘trap’ was _LO_E, which put both of those out of bounds.
In a different online conversation, I was reminded of a Wordle from a few days ago, so I finally Googled the reason I was familiar with the word:

'What do they live on when they can’t get hobbit?’ asked Sam, scratching his neck.
Not sure if there’s any need to put spoilers around reference to Wordles that are at least two days old, but just in case.

BLOKE remains burned into my memory so I knew it wasn’t that. I flipped a coin between ELOPE and GLOBE. Somehow missed seeing GLOVE though, so I could have landed anywhere from 3 to 5. I’ll take a little luck!
