Nothing for guess 1 then three for guess 2; tested consonant pair and got lucky. It had to be “CHIE_” after guess 3, and the only word that occurred to me was the winner.

No, it’s not Alzheimer’s.

I really didn’t expect my third guess to be valid - uncommon, proper noun - and if it hadn’t been I might have had a shot at 3.

Someone made a comment about the list being made by a techie guy. Apparently about a week ago the New York Times skipped over a word that might be considered techie that the average person may not know. The word was octal . I’m not sure if that needs to be spoiled.

STREP → Try BYTES? No, ??SET is a better try…
UPSET → … but that wasn’t. I already tried the P just last word! OK, think of some words with another vowel. Repeated Es?
BESET → Nope. Double S? with a previously unused vowel?
ASSET → Nope. One try left. Gotta be an O. But ?OSET doesn’t scan. O?SET could be…

That was closer to a loss than it had to be.

Two minutes before I leave for work and I realised I forgot to play tomorrow’s Wordle. Maybe I should work quickly more often.
