First 5 or worse since PARER. Between then and today, I had 11 4’s, 8 3’s, and 3 2’s, easily the hottest hot streak I’ve had since I started playing. Didn’t mention it because I figured I’d jinx it, but now that worry is over, podner.

No idea why I didn’t see the solution when I was puzzling over my fourth guess. C’est la vie.
That’s impressive, nicely done! Particularly the three 2s.
Meanwhile I continue to struggle. A couple/few weeks ago I mentioned that for the first time since very early on I had more 4s than 3s. (Someone fairly called me out for a humble brag.)
Including the 3 I just got in today’s puzzle, I now have 10 more 4s than 3s. (102 vs 92.) Yikes. At my zenith I think I was approaching 20 more 3s than 4s. At least well over 10 more; maybe mid teens?
ETA: I last posted my totals in my 199th game:
I had already started slipping by then, but still had 11 more 3s than 4s. I’m currently on my 256th game, so in the last 57 games I have 21 more 4s than 3s. Ouch. That is a significant drop off.
I also had a hot streak during that time. Mine is 2 2s, 14 3s and 6 4s. Until today…

I was very pleased with my choice of MOODY, checking for both the double O and terminal Y.
The hit on D narrowed it down to HOWDY, DOWDY, and TODDY. Any of those three, if wrong, would have eliminated one of the others, making five my worst possible outcome. So I went with the word I liked most, and howdy, there it was.
