I had HOWDY before DOWDY, but I let Wordle outsmart me, thinking it was about time for another use of double consonants. Plus I thought DOWDY was a more Wordle word than HOWDY. Derp.

Wow, that’s even hotter than mine! I’d noticed you’d been doing well, but whew!
Now who would do a thing like that? 
At the time, I was just trying to have more 2’s and 3’s than 5’s and 6’s. (I still have nearly as many 4’s as everything else put together.)
Hope your luck changes. One thing I think that happens is even the best starting words (for those of us who use the same starting word every time) are going to have stretches where they don’t match up well with the solutions. During my hot streak, my starting word was setting things up really well most days. There’ve been other stretches where it’s drawn a blank about every other day, and best I can do is salvage 4’s, if that.
You’re supposed to have HOWDY before DOODY.

ALONE → No luck there. Only U & Y left. Want to try O in second, so go with U…
POUCH → First consonant. Not much place for a second O. Can’t believe I’ve still got S & T to try, but with O in second… this will be partly a waste.
HOSTS → Really wasteful, though I did get the starting H. Let’s lock down that Y and give another double-letter try…
HOBBY → One guess left. Fortunately, only one word I can see…

Lotta misplays on that one. I feel like someone in Asimov’s Foundation books, like I just drifted along until there was only one way out. Fortunately, I didn’t get hit by the Mule.
Same here, I did not guess the answer until the 5th turn for that reason. Ugh!

Another four, and I’m OK with that. With ENDOW, I was trying to wrangle the 3 letters I had into the right spots. But that was just as likely to be the answer as ENJOY, so no regrets. Fortunately, I’d already ruled out ENVOY with my opener.
