"Wordle," a strangely compelling word game (Part 1)

Had to work for this one…so many words! I ruled out a good number of them with FANCY, but still had a lot of choices, though some I wasn’t sure if they’d be used. I decided to narrow it down to the ones I was feeling the most: Happy, Jazzy, or Baggy (in order of priority). I did consider doing a sleuth word, but I just hoped it really would be one of those three, so I went with my first choice. And my “gut feeling” paid off this time.

Itchy to get to the next holiday celebrations? Could just be to throw us off before the next two seemingly related theme words.

This gave me more trouble than it should have. Hit on both vowels right away but couldn’t get them where they were supposed to go.
A little bad luck today, too, as I had only four possible words after two, and three after three*. Just kept picking the wrong ones. Some days are like that.
*Scordle listed more, but I’m not counting obscure words like TEWIT and EEJIT, whatever those are.

Nice and fast; once I started looking at TE_I_ as a likely pattern, TEPID became obvious.

Then I use pen and paper to try out options.

I find it helpful because if I know the relative frequencies of each letter, I can tailor my starting sequence of words to pick up the most common letters.

This is certainly a reasonable thing to want to know. And in certain circumstances, I enjoy using spreadsheets. But for some reason I prefer to go more seat-of-the-pants with this activity.
