I got it in 3. It all comes down to how lucky your first guess is.
CRAVE → Good start! I think. It is possible to have too much success too early in this game…
CROWN → And that is a good follow-up, but now I feel like I’m in a trap.
CROUP → Can’t think of anything else with Y or I, so I guess I’m on consonants now. Maybe try a repeat letter?
CROCK → Not that one. OK, one more repeat, in fact a double…
CROSS
This trend of 5s has me feeling… well, you know.

STOCK
CROSS
STOCK turned out to be an amazingly good second word. After looking for about a minute, I realized there can’t be very many options left.
Turns out there was exactly one.

A lucky 3.

CROSS
After my second guess, I had it down to CROSS, CROOK or CROCK. For once, I ignored my resistance to using double letters – and it paid off! Nearly killed me, too.

GROSS
CROSS
Well-off that short run of 3s I had, sadly. GROSS seemed more likely than CROSS as I imagined they’d want to avoid the religious association, but of course the word has other meanings, too.
Metaphorically speaking, I assume…!?
LOL, yes. I was being hyperbolic. But seriously, I really struggle to not try double letters. In this case, I leaned hard toward CROCK – but then I reasoned that was a double C, and CROOK would be a double O, so a double S was acceptable. And I just preferred the word to the other 2 choices.
When the letters all turned over, I actually yipped out loud.
That’s what the NYT likes to hear!
Dang, that was a very lucky guess. Some redemption from yesterday!

VIRUS
CROSS
It was a good first word, prompted by my being very sick today from what was probably a norovirus.
Wordle 591 3/6
STONE

CROSS
The G has shown up only once all month (same with last month, and November just twice) - it’s not like it’s an uncommon letter, but apparently it has been demoted to the end of the line. Not mad I got it in 3 though, but just slightly annoyed it’s two CR words in a row (and two words starting with an F in a row before that). It happens, but just wish it didn’t.
Wordle 591 3/6*
Got it in 3, thanks to a lucky 2nd guess

CRUST
CROSS
And I was resisting the double letter, kept on looking for other possibles–but there were none.
