An unimpressive score, but it went fairly quickly and I enjoyed the process, so there’s that.

Add me to the Mauve > Vague group. After guess #2, I felt the A was most likely in the 2nd spot, and I had a lot of words to choose from, but since I like the color Mauve, I went with that. Turned out to be a great choice…except that it wasn’t the answer , but I’ll take the 4 gladly on this one.
I missed playing #613 yesterday. But it looks like I dodged a bullet. Sure would be nice if NYT made it possible to play previous games. There used to be a way to do that (I just found out after doing a little digging), but no longer. One of the ways was via Wayback Machine, and you still can play games from Feb. 2022 - June 2022, but from there on it doesn’t work anymore. Darn it!

Mistakes galore. For my second guess I forgot to reuse the yellow O, then for my third guess I put O in the same place as my opener. So that’s two Wordle rule mistakes, but I also totally spaced my “always check M or N” strategy, which ended up costing me an extra guess for having to check armor late.
I’ve got good news and bad news.
I’ll take the good news.
You broke your 5 streak…

What a challenge today! After guess 2 I spent way too long looking at that single stupid misplaced A with a whole slew of letters unavailable.
Then of the three words I could think of, I tried them in the wrong order.
I was grumbling about the word, wondering who speaks of an arbor (of trees), when I realized that I often use the word when speaking of an arbor in the sense of a mandrel for holding parts while turning them on a lathe.

A lot of people speak of Ann Arbor (of Michigan)
Sure, one doesn’t much use ‘arbor’ in a sentence these days, but it’s still a familiar word IMHO. Arbor Day is the last Friday in April. I’ve been to the National Arboretum many times, and I know what an arborist is.
So even though I took a 5 on this one, I’d still say it’s a perfectly legit solution.
Ann Arbor? Never heard of it…
…not
I was raised there, and even delivered The Ann Arbor News as a tween.
We all learned about the origin of the name (“Ann’s Arbor”) in school.
Nevertheless, it’s not a word I have ever actually used in that sense.
I had my three-word shortlist and put the most uncommon last (IMHO), and it turned out that was the one.
Plus there is the arching trellis thing called an arbor.
