Almost forgot to play…I had about 5 minutes before midnight, and I went with the first words that quickly came to mind, and totally got lucky. 
So glad this wasn’t a trap-word slog!
Edit to add: I see now that it could have been a mini-trap with Mirth and Firth as two additional options (Girth was already an answer)…pretty sure I still would have gone with Birth first though.
Does anyone know if you start the game before midnight, but don’t finish until after midnight, if it still takes it? I feel like I’ve done that before and it didn’t work, but just can’t recall.

EMAIL → Not much of a start. But, like a cyclops, I have one I to work with…
ROIST → So here I really screwed up. I got excited about trying a TH combo followed by IR, neglecting to see that the I couldn’t be in the middle anyway, and then - to boot - I mistype it…
THRID → but, at least, the H comes out well. So now let’s try the TH on the end, I in the second slot, choose the first first letter that comes to mind…
FIRTH → And if I had taken a couple seconds to think about it, I would have come up with two better guesses. I’ll try the first…

A very poorly-played six. Deciding the L had to be in the second spot, I narrowed it down to GLAZE or GLADE and figured I was home free. Totally didn’t see the BL start (or FL, for that matter). I BLAME daylight saving time.
Apropos of nothing in particular, why is it that most people’s diagrams come out grey, yellow, and green, and a few people’s diagrams are black, blue, and orange?
