Definitely. As said before, the game itself is nothing new: see the gameshow Lingo. I had a game on my Commodore 64 in the 80s that played exactly the same. But the one-game-a-day thing is pretty genius, whether intentional or happened upon by accident. New York Time’s Spelling Bee operates in much the same way. Pretty straightforward build-as-many-words-as-you-can concept, but only one puzzle per day, and word nerds can compare their scores. I hear people talking about Spelling Bee every so often on social media, but the buzz is a tiny fraction of Wordle. I honestly thought the Wordle craze would have died down by now, but I’m apparently shite in predicting social phenomena. (I also thought Twitter would never catch on.

Does anyone else wake in the middle of the night and check the time to see if it’s after midnight, and say “Cool I can play WORDL!”?
LOL, it’s become my morning treat with coffee before the day officially begins! I’m often up past midnight, but I don’t play because I look forward to doing the puzzle in the mornings.
I’ve scrolled through this thread twice looking for where the archive of past days is available. I only started 3 days ago, so that might be fun. No chance I can find it.
Anybody got a link? A clue?

Some of those early ones seemed much harder than the ones now, many low frequency letters.
I found # 1 to be tough. Couldn’t do it in self-imposed hard mode. Had to branch out.
It’s definitely happened, but I try to save it for my morning routine.

I’m sorry if this has been mentioned, but I just discovered the game can be saved to one’s hard drive – on a desktop, right-click, “Save As,” and double-click on the resultant .htm file, which you now own forever. The word-of-the-day remains the same, at least today – we’ll see about tomorrow. Take that, NYT!
