A lot of players only use words with high-percentage letters, so they’re nearly always going to get hits. Even if you’re using different words every day, you still have excellent odds of at least getting a yellow on a vowel.
I use a different word each day so I probably biff the first guess more often, but I’m pretty pleased when it happens. Since I play on hard mode, that failure means I’m free to make a super optimal second guess.
Popular letters include (can we agree?) A,D,E,H,I,L,N,O,R,S,T and U. A few other letters have a decent chance. I should think that in 15-20% of games you draw a blank during the first guess. But looking at above posts, seems like this happens more rarely. I also like this when it happens.
It seems my computer is a day behind but my iPad isn’t. It may have something to do with starting a wordle on one day but not finishing it until the next.
There are some interesting variations (the list is under all the multi-lingual options), one of which allows you to create your own word and share the link.
That makes sense. For a second there I thought I was wrong, but I remain triumphant and the greatest intellectual who ever lived. Wait, what are we talking about again? Oh yes, word puzzles.
Anyways… at the risk of giving a clue, I have never used the word in tomorrow’s puzzle in my real life.
Was trying to say please for some reason. I really forgot that pleas was a word, until I noticed the brain fart of ignoring for a second that it was only 5 letters… finding the correct word then was easy.
I don’t think that’s against the hard mode rules. You have to use letters that you’ve established are in the word but you can still reuse known bad letters.
I didn’t reuse a known bad letter. I reused a known good letter in a known bad spot. I’m pretty sure that’s against hard mode rules.
(Specifically, I knew the letter “a” was in the solution but definitely not in position 3. So when I guessed plant, with an a in position 3, I was breaking hard mode rules.)
