Was stuck after word three for awhile thinking of different words.

Not against the hard mode rules. You can repeat a letter in a wrong position. See my word three for today.

Interesting, and thanks much.

So it looks like I (try to) play by my own homebrew hard mode rules, where every guess must conform to all known information. No known bad letters, no known good letters in known bad positions. I’m finding it quite difficult. In fact, I’m not entirely sure I’ve ever successfully completed one following these rules. I’ve come within one single letter several times, like today.

Goddamn addictive game. :smiley:

Yeah, see, exactly. @Aspenglow’s game above abides by the hard mode rules I try to play by. Every misplaced letter is moved until the correct home is found, where it stays for every subsequent guess. No bad letters reused. I really thought that’s what hard mode was.

(And I’ve never seen the word SHOAT before in my life. Glad that wasn’t the answer we were supposed to guess. I think I missed the “baby animal names” day in school or something.)

It’s the only way to play that makes sense to me. But I’ve never gotten it in two tries, so maybe there’s a better approach.

There is a cheat- play the game in one browser then play it again in another. Then you can solve in one if you want.

Anyway, today’s was a little tougher for me:

:green_square::white_large_square::green_square::white_large_square::green_square:
:green_square::green_square::green_square::green_square::green_square:

That doesn’t seem that hard to me, that’s how I’ve played every game. I thought that’s just what you were supposed to do…

Me too, before I even knew there was a hard mode. It seemed the most logical way to do it.

BLAST → OK, A starts. What other vowel? And do I have a double letter?

Trying for a double letter gets me again. Perhaps next time it will pay off…

It certainly is! I’m glad it’s just once a day.

Tomorrow’s is correct.

:green_square::green_square::green_square::green_square::green_square:

It’s a misnomer really. It should be called Restricted Mode or something. If you play by your self imposed rules it will probably take a little longer to think of a word to try but you would be more likely to guess the word in fewer tries.

Today’s scores:

Wordle: 4
Byrdle: 3
Dordle: 4/5
