So after three I was pretty sure it was an -LLY word, and I had it down to FOLLY, GOLLY, or JOLLY. I needed a sleuth word with at least two of those and ideally the L in fourth place to make sure I wasn’t missing another option. Hence FOGLE. I don’t know what it means but it saved a five.
ETA: just googled. It’s either a silk handkerchief or sex with an underage girl as in Subway spokesman, depending on whether your dictionary is urban or not,

Had to cheat by abandoning hard mode to narrow down the _OLLY trap. Interestingly, the valid solutions I could see were five consecutive consonants: DFGHJ. There is no word I could see that use four of them, but several choices using three. That meant I had to rank them on likelihood, leaving one high percentage and one low percentage uncovered to give me an obvious guess if nothing hit.
The order I decided, most common to least likely, was folly, jolly, dolly, holly, golly. Ideally I would then want to leave folly and golly uncovered, which I was able to do with jihad. Nothing hit, and then my top choice ended up being the answer. The other options I saw instead of jihad were judge and fudge.
It was almost refreshing that none of the five had previously been an answer.
ENTER → I expected a bit more. Need to guess vowels. Can get two…
HALOS → Waited a while here. Finally resolved to try a Y and a couple more consonants, with O in second…
GOLDY → And while the consonants didn’t hit, I think I’m about done with the vowels. I’m seeing ?OLLY, but with DGH already gone it’s not too traplike - M, J, or F (or a third L? Ouch)
FOLLY
Got lucky on the trap guess.

I was pretty sure of the terminal Y, but no guarantee of a double L - and even then I still had DOLLY, GOLLY, JOLLY, and HOLLY in play. Very fortunate to save a par here.

This was a time when checking already-used words saved the day. I’d found all the -OGGY words. Every one was already used. Also LOWLY. Of the 3 -OLLY words I considered likely, I lucked into trying FOLLY first. I didn’t deserve a 3, but I’ll take it anyway!
