Thatβll teach me not going with my usual two start words (Slate + Choir)β¦would have had this in 3 guesses. Oh well, sometimes you gotta shake things up, but it just didnβt work in my favor today.
BATHE β Good start. Stick with common letters next STORE β Is it a trap? I canβt think of too much to fit, especially since the very middle must be a vowel. Try L or N for the consonant, so STILE β First word I saw here was STELE, then the lightbulb went on STYLE
My daughter is a massive Swiftie and would probably disown me for not getting this in three.
STYLE, TENSE, and THESE were all I had left after two. TENSE was the first one I saw, so there you have it.
RATIO, one of my favorite starters, sits firmly in the middle of the pack at a 4.0 average, which didnβt change today.
I wouldnβt classify this as luck. βProperβ play offers two choices for your second word: stole and stone. I think you get a 3 with either of them.
Luck would be if you went off the reservation and guessed something like cycle at 2, lucking into the y to save a 3.
Youβre right. I play in a somewhat methodical way. Depending on the results from my opening word, I try the most likely vowel(s) next based on letter placement, along with common consonants besides βRβ and βTβ. Included in those are S, C, L, P and N. (A favorite second word if I only hit an βAβ is SCALP.)
But I still could have gone awry with trying a word like ETUDE, THYME or THOSE.
My greatest vulnerability comes from those damn trap words, like SURLY.
