I was right there with @RTFirefly. Saw tenth immediately but wondered if that would be an answer. “Hmmm, first and third have been, but not fifth or sixth. Oh shit, ninth has been an answer, sold!”

STYLE → Not a bad start. STYLE is actually a nice starting word. OK, can we place the E?
ENTER → Nope. But picked up an N, so not bad. Still, where does that one E go?
TWEEN → That’s not the way to find it. Ouch. A fractally lousy play. Still have to try H, and it can’t go after the T, cause that’s where the E is. Then maybe the N, so maybe try two Ts?

Coffee hasn’t kicked in, apparently. Knowing the first three letters, I typed in “TEN,” and then stared and stared. I almost convinced myself it was TENTY, which would have been a terrible answer. I went through every combination of available letters, twice, before - duh - TENTH fell in.
OVINE improves from 4.0 to 3.92.
Ovine seems like a weird starter to me. Why not opine?

Same thought here. V is 5th from the bottom in number of appearances in Wordle solutions so far, ahead of only J,Q,X, and Z. P is more middle-of-the-pack.
I like to mix it up. I have a list of 43 words with 3 vowels each that I use as starters. Some of them have more common consonants and some less common. It’s fun when the less-common ones hit, and when they don’t, I just move on to more common ones on the next guess. It helps me keep the game from getting too static.
(I was surprised, however, to find that OPINE is not on my list. I’ll have to mix it in on the next run-through.)
